Late on Saturday night, residents in calle Pez Dorado in Torremolinos were perturbed by the cries of a young baby and called the police.
It took firefighters until 03:00 to access the interior of the building where they found a two year old baby, all alone in the house.
The mother arrived back home at 06:00 and was duly arrested on charges of abandonment. The baby was taken into care. A hospital check was carried out and the toddler was said to be in good health.
The woman appeared in court on Monday charged with abandonment and was later released on bail. The baby remains in care until the case is resolved.
The mother apparently left the toddler alone in the house while she went out for a night on the town.
