Guardia Civil officers have detained three people of North African origin who were traveling in small rubber dinghy in the waters around Isla de Alborán.
The dinghy had suffered a puncture and was slowly sinking. The police believe that the three men were probably smuggling drugs, hoping to stash them along the Almería, when their boat was punctured and plans had to be changed. They also believe that, in all likelihood, the occupants ditched the drugs overboard when they realised they weren’t going to make it to shore.
