The forest fire in the Parque Natural del Estrecho near Tarifa was stabilised around midday on Sunday and is now under control.
The fire has destroyed around 300 hectares of scrub, cork and eucalyptus trees and forced the evacuation of nearly 700 people in the area.
Gusting winds of up to 45 kph have not been helping the efforts to bring the fire completely under control.
