During the early hours of this morning, at 05:10 to be precise, the Sistema Integral de Vigilancia Exterior (SIVE) detected a small inflatable toy boat about 2.5 miles off Tarifa. On board were five Moroccans.
The boat, the type used by kids on the beach, was intercepted by Guardia Civil officers and the occupants, all adult males, were taken to the port of Tarifa.
After being given a health check by the Red Cross, the five men were transferred to the police station in Algeciras in preparation for their repatriation.
