Torrox Council has been forced to suspend the sale of a plot of land in the Barranco del Puerto which was to be for the construction of VPO housing.
The suspension of proceedings is due to a number of problems and technical errors in the tenders submitted by three companies. The contract is for the building of 152 VPO (subsidised) homes.
The PSOE are calling for the resignation of the Councilor for Urban Affairs, José Pérez (IU), for incompetence. The Councilor responded to this call by pointing out that in eight years of PSOE government in Torrox, not a single VPO house was constructed and several Councilors were charged with city planning violations.
