Successful Fiesta de la Uva Moscatel in Iznate

Around 2,500 people attended the Fiesta de la Uva Moscatel (Festival of the Moscatel Grape) in the small town of Iznate (population +/- 900) this weekend.

This was the eleventh edition of the festival which as declared a ‘Festival of Tourist Interest’ in 2004. Those attending got to sample local delicacies such as torrijas, tortillas de miel and hornazos as well as consuming about 200 litres of the local tipple.

The festival opened with a speech by the Mayor of Vélez- Málaga, María Salomé Arroyo. Grapes are a traditional part of the local economy and the local wine is highly rated. About 600 kilos of grapes were needed to provide all the refreshments for this celebration.
