Sevilla, Córdoba, Málaga and Cádiz provinces are on maximum alert for forest fires, with the government pointing out that the cooperation of the public is also required in addition to the preventative measures currently being taken.
During the period 2007 to 2013, the government is providing the autonomous regions with a total of €175 million for fire prevention measures.
There are currently three major fires burning, on the island La Palma, in Baños de Molgas (Ourense) and Añorbe (Navarra).
