Lorry driver in fatal accident was 5 times over the alcohol limit

A lorry driver who traveled several kilometres down the A-4 in the wrong direction and was then involved in a fatal accident near La Campana, Sevilla, has been ordered to prison.

The driver of the lorry, 32 year old A.J.G.A., drove several kilometres down the A-4 against the traffic flow before realising the error of his ways. Attempting to turn around, the lorry hit a car and caused the death of its driver, 59 year old M.L.P. from Martos in Jaén province.

The lorry driver was found to be five times over the permitted alcohol level for drivers of large articulated vehicles, registering 0.86 grams. The permitted level is 0.15 grams. As a result, a judge in Lora del Río (Sevilla) ordered him to be detained in custody.
