Big cocaine haul in Huelva

A boat carrying 320 kilos of cocaine has been intercepted off the coast of Huelva.

The Guardia Civil patrol boat ‘Río Guadabalón’ went to investigate a radar blip about three miles off El Rompido, Huelva province and discovered that the source of the signal was a boat flying the British flag. Noticing that the British vessel had no mast, the Guardia Civil officers were expecting to receive a request for assistance.

Instead, a man on deck suddenly dropped his fishing rod and ran below deck, arousing suspision. A search of the boat then revealed the cargo of cocaine.

Two people were arrested, one British and one American national, and charged with crimes against the public health.
