Over 100 illegal immigrants arrive in Andalucía

Over one hundred illegal immigrants arrived along the Andalucian coast coast yesterday.

Maritime Rescue intercepted a boat containing 35 passengers, including two pregnant women, which was drifting about 40 miles off Motril. Seven of the passengers had to be transferred to the Hospital Santa Ana in Motril. They were suffering from severe hypothermia, dehydration and acute fatigue.

In Almeria, a total of 78 people arrived in three boats.

The first boat, containing 17 Algerians, was intercepted on Thursday afternoon. All the occupants were in good health.

The second boat was intercepted at 02:00 this morning about 12 miles off Punta Polacra near the town of San José. There were 25 people on board.

The third boat managed to make it to shore at Censo beach near Adra. Local residents notified the police of the landing and 36 illegal immigrants were rounded up and detained.
