Boat sinks in Adra port

A fishing boat moored in Adra port, Almeria, caught fire and sank on Saturday morning. Fortunately there was no-one on the boat at the time of the incident.

Over two tons of hashish seized in Adra

The authorities  have seized 2.6 tons of hashish found on board a pleasure craft entering the port of Adra, arresting the three crew members, all Italian nationals.

Marine Rescue assist drifting travellers

Marine Rescue last night offered assistance to 42 sub-Saharan travellers attempting to sneak into Spain through the back door after their inflatable dinghy ran out of fuel and began drifting about twenty miles south of Adra, Almeria.

4 fires within 48 hours in Almería

Three of the four fires in Almería province have been checked, only one now remains active. At least 660 hectares of grass and scrub land has been affected by the blazes.

Denuncia for discrimination

The chiringuito ‘Garfield’ in Adra has been denounced for discrimination after a number of complaints from ethnic Roma (gypsy) that they were constantly refused entry. Those complaining say that any excuse is given by the management for refusing entry, such as inappropriate clothing, private party etc.

Illegal immigrants rescued off Almería coast

The Marine Rescue Service has rescued 36 sub-Saharan alternative tourists about 14 miles south of Adra, Almería. They had apparently been adrift for some time and it was one of the passengers who used his mobile to contact the authorities.
