Avenida Toré Toré in Torre del Mar, which has undergone very little change during the past thirty years, is scheduled for improvements and the works will begin in September, after the close of the main tourist season.
The project, budgeted at €498,000, has a completion period of six monthsd, although it is hoped that the bulk of the work can be completed by December 31st 2009.
The works, which cover the entire length of the road from avenida Andalucía to the promenade, include the construction of a central reservation, one lane of traffic in each direction, a bicycle lane on each side of the road and pavements five metres wide.
The area is very touristy, with many restaurants, and therefore emphasis is being placed on the convenience of pedestrians.
