A boat carrying 54 illegal immigrants was intercepted last night after one of the passengers alerted the Emergency Services.
The alert came at around 21:00 on Tuesday evening and members of the Maritime Rescue Service and Guardia Civil set off to locate and intercept the boat. The boat was located about 10 miles off the Granada coast and the occupants were escorted to the port of Motril, arriving on dry land at 23:45.
The immigrants were checked over by the Red Cross and all were said to be in good health after their journey.
