Málaga, Jaén, Granada and Almería remain on ‘yellow alert’ for thunderstorms and heavy rains.
Yesterday, heavy rains caused problems in Málaga city, Antequera and Linares. In Antequera, a torrential downpour caused the flooding of homes and basements and also resulted in the closure of part of the A-343 ring road at one stage.
In Linares, 20 litres of water per square metre caused much flooding of homes and resulted in several motorists being trapped in their vehicles.
In Málaga city, the heavy rains caused damage to the roof of the Iglesia de San Pedro and major flooding in calle San Miguel, Urbanización Parque Sol and the commercial centre La Verónica. Some basements accumulated up to one and a half metres of water.
