A middle-aged woman, a local resident, has been arrested and charged with causing the fire that destroyed 500 hectares of high ecological value land in Estepona.
The fire was the largest of the summer in Málaga province, destroying 500 hectares of land. In the absence of stubble burning, railway tracks or power cables in the area, the authorities always believed that the fire was caused intentionally.
It took firefighters 48 hours to bring the blaze under control.
