In a strange, but symptomatic survey of 2,000 women in the UK, some 74% were apparently in favour of the equivalent of maternity leave for childless women.
The women believe that working, childless women should be entitled to up to six months ‘leave of absence’ in the same way as ‘maternity leave’ is granted to new mothers.
