The president of the newly formed Mesa de Trabajo por el Urbanismo en la Axarquía (Bureau of Labour for Urban Development in the Axarquia), José Domínguez (PSOE), has expressed surprise and dismay at the attitude of the Partido Popular and the threat by the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, to withdraw from this initiative if there is ‘no political will’ to change the law.
The idea of the initiative was to set up a forum to discuss and resolve urban problems in the district and Domínguez recalled that, at the first meeting, it was agreed that once things got properly underway, this would be the time to submit proposals to the relevant governmental bodies and to possibly request changes to legislation.
