Six people are now confirmed dead after the collapse last night of a three storey building in Palma de Mallorca. Two other people are in hospital with serious injuries.
The building, reported to be in poor condition, collapsed shortly after midnight last night, trapping a number of people in the rubble. Some residents reported hearing an explosion shortly before the collapse, suggesting that a gas leak could have been the cause of the disaster.
The two seriously injured, a 47 year old woman and a 73 year old man, were transferred to the Hospital Son Llàtzer and Hospital Son Llàtzer respectively.
