The rail link between Algeciras and Bobadilla is now closed for repairs and is likely to remain out of operation for about five months. The last train departed at 15:00 on Sunday.
The temporary closure affects 4 Altaria and 8 medium distance trains on one of the important lines connecting the Campo de Gibraltar and Madrid.
RENFE, the rail network operator, is laying on alternative road transport to get people to Antequera where they can once again travel by train.
