As many as 34,000 Andalucian farmers took part in a protest rally in Madrid today, answering the call by the agricultural organisations ASAJA, COAG and UPA for a demonstration against the state of the farming industry.
Producers are concerned about the low price being offered for their products and claim that thousands of small farms are going under each year as a result of the economic situation. Those engaged in olive production are some of the hardest hit with many farms having to close.
