The provincial Commission for Territorial Planning and Development, a part of the Ministry of Planning and Development, has approved the plan to build a Fire Station within the municipality of Nerja.
The land for the new Fire Station, situated on the Frigiliana road, has long since been ceded to the Provincial Council, the body responsible for the actual construction.
The plot is 3,600 square metres and will (eventually) see the construction of a Type C Fore Park to cover the municipalities of Nerja, Frigiliana and Torrox with a permanent allocation of six fire units.
The land is classified as non-urban under the PGOU but can be used for the construction of public facilities. It is currently hoped that tendering for the new facility can begin in 2010.
