Several warehouses in Motril were evacuated this morning after an explosion and fire at a fireworks factory.
The explosion, at the Enrique Martín fireworks factory on the outskirts of town, was felt throughout most of Motril although the subsequent fire was quite small.
The authorities decided to evacuate nearby warehouses as a security measure due to the fact that the factory was still filled with explosive materials. No-one was injured in the incident. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
