A Spanish soldier, 24 year old Christian Quishpe Aguirre, has died in an accident in Herat, Afghanistan.
Christian Quishpe Aguirre, a native of Ecuador but with Spanish nationality, was working at the Advanced Support Base in Herat when he was involved in an accident.
The soldier was taken to hospital but he later died from his wounds. Christian Quishpe Aguirre joined the Spanish army in September 2001.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
