The Fiesta de San Antón takes place in Maro on January 15th, 16th and 17th with fireworks, processions, musical performances and the sampling of local delicacies. The full programme is:
Friday 15th
22:00 Performance by Los Hados Negros in the plaza de Maro. This is followed by more music with a local DJ.
Saturday 16th
12:00 Firing of rockets followed by the municipal band “Los centimillos” parading through the streets.
14:00 Plaza de Maro. Sale of local specialities, such as “choto a la mareña”, with anti-crisis prices in operation.
19:00 Noche del Fuego. The lighting of the traditional bonfires in the streets of Maro accompanied by firework displays. There is a prize for the best bonfire.
21:00 Lighting of the bonfire in the plaza de Maro.
22.00 horas. Performance by the group Alalba in the plaza de Maro.
Sunday 17th
10:00 Floral tribute.
12:00 Mass in honour of San Antón followed by the blessing of animals.
16:00 Performance by Alalba.
17:00 Popular games and entertainment for young and old.
18:00 Performance by choirs and dancers of Maro.
20:30 Procession of San Antón through the streets accompanied by music and firewroks
22:00 Performance by the group Alalba.
