Local Police and Civil Defence officers were called out yesterday to rescue a German couple who got lost in the Los Cahorros area of Nerja.
The woman, aged 68 years, contacted the authorities late yesterday afternoon to say that they were lost and that her husband was injured.
The rescuers found the woman first but it was a further thirty minutes before the husband, aged 75 years, was located further upstream.
A helicopter was called to the area but was unable to land due to bad weather conditions and poor visibility. The rescuers escorted the couple back to waiting vehicles and then transferred them to the Health Centre for treatment. The man was suffering from exhaustion and mild hypothermia
