All the goals came in a six minute period in the second half, Arbeloa getting things going with a goal in the 64th minute and Cristiano Ronaldo adding two more in quick succession to give a final scoreline of Xerez 0 – 3 Real Madrid.
Valencia dropped two points on their visit to Sporting Gijón in a 1-1 draw but are still currently safe in third place. Castro opened the scoring for Sporting after just 6 minutes and it wasn’t until the 76th that Mata found the net for Valencia to earn them a draw.
