A British couple died in Rubite, Granada, after the roof of the house they were visiting collapsed on top of them, all indications being that the accident was caused by the recent torrential rains.
The couple, aged 63 years and 64 years, were visiting friends in Rubite. They were in the living room waiting for their hosts, who had gone into the kitchen, when the roof collapsed on top of them.
The Emergency Services were alerted but there was nothing they could do for the couple. The owners of the house escaped unharmed, although shocked by the incident.
There had been a heavy storm earlier in the day and early indications are that this was probably the cause of the collapse.
