The Guardia Civil have detained 26 people, 23 in Huelva and 3 in Málaga, and seized 5,650 kilos of drugs during the course of an operation codenamed ‘Yunke’.
Seven houses were raided in Huelva, Punta Umbría, Aljaraque, Lepe, Gibraleón and Ayamonte where police seized documents, computers, firearms, vehicles and other items relating to criminal activity.
The bulk of the arrests were carried out on the beaches of Mazagón where, a few months ago, several people were caught bringing drugs ashore. This led to the launch of an investigation into these individuals and others in relation to various criminal activities and culminating in the dismantling of a drugs smuggling network.
Charges against the individuals include drug smuggling, crimes against the public health, theft and forgery.
