The junket to Maro at the weekend by a group of thirty travel operators from Air Met to study the touristic possibilities of the village was deemed a great success, although they weren’t able to go canoeing as planned due to the inclement weather.
The group did, however, manage a trip to the Nerja Caves, a visit to the picnic area at El Pinarillo and a tapas run around the town. Accompanying the group was the Myor of Maro, Antonio Gallardo, the manager of the Hotel Playamaro, Alberto Casanova, and Councillor José Miguel García.
As a result of the trip, Maro may possibly be the location for a medical convention at some time in the future.
