The Asociación de Empresarios de Nerja (AEN) is appealing to the authorities, local and other, to promote alternative types of tourism and not those based purely upon sun and beach.
The AEN says such an approach needs the cooperation of various administrative bodies, particularly the local government as they are closest to the situation and the people.
Ideas being put forward as examples are the creation of walking routes through the Sierra Almijara as well as various sports, cultural and gastronomic enterprises.
