Seven companies have bid to equip the Nerja History Museum

A total of seven companies have put in bids to outfit and equip the new Nerja History Museum in Plaza de España.

The whole project, carried out by the Nerja Caves Foundation, involves a total investment of over €4 million. Phase one was financed through a €2.3 million loan from Unicaja. Phase two is being financed through a €1.8 million loan from Cajamar.

The bids will now be analysed and it is expected that equipping the museum can begin in May with the museum itself opening to the public in early 2011.

The Nerja History Museum, and the Nerja Caves themselves, have become very much a party political issue in recent times, basically since the Nerja Caves Foundation came under the control of the opposition PSOE.
