189 flight cancellations in Spain

The continuing problems with volcanic ash from Iceland resulted in 189 flights being cancelled throughout Spain on Monday.

In Málaga, 26 flights were cancelled, 20 to the United Kingdom, 4 to Holland and 2 to Ireland. In Sevilla, 6 flights were cancelled to London, Liverpool and Bristol airports. In Almeria, 2 flights to the UK had to be cancelled. Elsewhere in Andalucia there were no problems and no cancellations.

Ryanair was one of the worst hit airlines operating from Spain with 47 flights having to be cancelled.

Over the whole of Europe, around 1,000 flights had to be cancelled due to airspace restrictions in parts of Holland and the UK.
