At the full plenary session of the Council, a motion was approved expressing full institutional support for the Nerja Museum and requesting the president of the Nerja Caves Foundation, Hilario López Luna, to put someone competent in charge so as to ensure the viability of the project and to get the museum included in the Andalucia Museum Network.
Needless to say, the opposition PSOE, whose leader Ángel Ramírez is the current manager of the Nerja Caves Foundation, did not support the motion.
The motion was proposed after the reading of a report by the General Directorate of Museums and Art Promotion, part of the Ministry of Culture of the Andalucian Regional Government. The report rejected the inclusion of the Nerja Museum in the Andalucia Museum Network due to a number of shortcomings. Eight to be exact.
According to the government, the report demonstrates the carelessness, negligence and incapacity of its manager, namely Ángel Ramírez.
