A soldier died today near Benageber, Valencia, while on manouevres after the vehicle in which he was travelling left the road and plunged from a bridge.
The deceased soldier, initials R.S.M., belonged to the Cavalry Regiment ‘Lusitania’ 8 and was based in Marines, Valencia. He was taking part in training manoeuvres before the unit was due to deploy to the Lebanon.
The accident occurred on the CV-50 when the driver lost control of the armoured vehicle and it plunged from a bridge. The driver and three other crew members were injured in the incident but not seriously.
