A bit wearing on the pocket

A Spanish company has just bought the world’s largest gold coin for $3.27 million, its exact material worth. The coin is a Canadian $1,000,000 Maple Leaf, weighing 100 kilos and measuring 53 cms in diameter.

The coin is 3 cms thick and is one of only five minted in 2007 for the dual purpose of showcasing the facilities of the Royal Canadian Mint and capturing the Guinness World Record for the biggest gold coin.

Queen Elizabeth II, whose head appears on one side of the coin, also owns one.
