The Asociación Agraria de Jóvenes Agricultores (Asaja) believes that thieves took advantage of the Spain-Portugal World Cup match to steal all the avocado trees from a farm in Vélez-Málaga.
The thieves removed around fifty trees from the farm along with irrigation pipes and other materials. The trees had only been planted the day before. The total value of the haul is put at around €7,000.
This is the third such robbery in the area in less than one week.
