A 39 year old Moroccan man has been arrested in Sanlúcar la Mayor, Sevilla, on charges of smuggling tobacco after 30,540 packets of cigarettes were found hidden in his van.
The man, a resident of Las Palmas, was stopped at a routine Guardia Civil checkpoint on the A-49. When asked if they could look inside the van, the man became nervous, telling the officers he just had some old clothes and a few electrical appliances.
A search of the vehicle revealed 30,540 packets of cigarettes hidden inside several refrigerators.
