A man has been arrested in Málaga on suspicion of maltreating his former partner and has also been charged with breach of a restraining order and assaulting a police officer.
Police were called to the paseo marítimo Antonio Machado in Málaga after someone reported that a man was severely beating a woman.
When the police arrived, the man, a 31-year-old Moroccan national, was on top of the woman, punching her, pulling her by the hair and hitting her head against the ground.
The man was arrested but as he was about to be searched, he became aggressive towards the officers and had to be subdued again. The police also discovered that the man had a restraining order against him and that he was in violation of that order.
The detainee has a criminal record, mostly for domestic violence. The woman was suffering a number of contusions as a result of the beating.
