A 43-year-old man has died while swimming in El Chorro reservoir, close to the campsite in Ardales. A helicopter and ambulance were sent to the scene but could do nothing to save the life of the man.
According to his companions, they were making their way back to shore to get out of the water when they noticed that their friend was no longer moving.
An investigation is under way to determine the exact cause of death. If it turns out to be drowning, he will be the eleventh victim of the summer in Málaga province.
