Valencia back on top

The top teams have so far struggled against the newly promoted teams, this time Real Madrid being held to a 0-0 draw by Levante.

Valencia have moved back to the top of the table with a 0-2 victory against Sporting, Topal and Soldado the scorers. Barcelona move up to second after beating Athletic Bilbao 1-3.

The Catalans had to wait until the second half to take the lead, Keita scoring in the 54th minute. Xavi added to their tally twenty minutes later and then two goals in two minutes in injury time, Gabilondo for Athletic and Busquets for Barca, made the final score 1-3.

Both teams ended the match a player short, Amorebieta receiving his marching orders after half an hour of play and David Villa joining him in the dressing room just before the end of the match.
