Despite the financial crisis, both nationally and locally, the Councillor for Development in Torrox, José Pérez (PSA), is still pushing forward plans for an ambitious €10 million theme park project in the municipality.
José Pérez first proposed the idea during his tenure as mayor between 1992 and 1999.
The Councillor says that the Junta de Andalucia has reacted favourably to the idea and has asked for a more concrete project proposal and a report is expected to be completed within the next three months.
The idea is to revitalise a 60,000 square metre area around the lighthouse with a Marine Park and the project includes museums, cultural areas, restaurants, a wharf, hotels and homes.
