Two arrested in Benalmadena after injuring a policeman

Two men, aged 28 years and 35 years, were arrested in Benalmadena yesterday after they ran over a Local Police officer as they tried to flee the scene in their vehicle.

The two men were in a stolen car when police officers signalled them to stop. Instead of stopping, however, they sped off at high speed, jumping red lights and swithching lanes.

The National Police then set up a number of checkpoints to locate and intercept the vehicle. The escapees rammed two police vehicles and two other cars in their attempts to get away.

When finally apprehended, one of the detainees was found to the the subject of an extradition order from the Rumanian authorities.

The pair were charged with injuring a police officer and vehicle theft.
