The family of flamenco singer Enrique Moriente, who died yesterday in La Luz hospital in Madrid, have requested an autopsy and have already filed a judicial complaint for alleged medical negligence.
The complaint was filed several days ago, although the family kept it quiet out of fear while Morente was still in hospital. An autopsy is being carried out today, Tuesday, at the Anatomical Forensic Institute in Madrid.
Morente entered hospital on December 2nd and underwent surgery at 20:00 on December 4th with Doctor Enrique Moreno and his team. The patient was then transferred to the ICU for post operative monitoring, a normal procedure in such cases.
On December 6th, Morente’s condition apparently worsened and he underwent a second, emergency operation. The family of Enrique Morente have stated that they were not informed about the second operation until four hours later.
The family are demanding answers as to what happened as Enrique Morente was only 67 years old and only entered the hospital with a throat problem.
