A kidney for a job

Félix Acosta in Isla Cristina, Huelva, has been camped at the gates of the municipal Council for twelve days to demand a job and has offered to donate one of his kidneys to anyone in need of such an organ if he is provided with employment.

Acosta has been joined by his wife, unemployed for 17 months, one of his daughters and several other local people in a similar situation, although Félix is the only one offering body parts in any sort of deal.

Félix claims that his family are in extreme poverty and are waiting for the bank to foreclose on their home. He says he has called the Council on several occasions for help but no-one ever came to see him.

The Mayor of Isla Cristina, María Luisa Faneca (PSOE), has apparently been to see him and told him to go to the Unemployment Office (INEM) as the Council has no jobs.

Félix has also had to make a declaration to the Guardia Civil after being denounced for blocking the public thoroughfare.
