Man in Badajoz kills former partner and then commits suicide

A man in Badajoz committed suicide on Thursday after allegedly shooting dead his former partner.

The incident happened at around 09:00 in Avenida Ricardo Carapeto in the San Roque area of Badajoz.

The man, aged 60 years, waited for his former partner, a 35 year woman of Moroccan origin, to return from taking their eight year old daughter to school and then allegedly shot her several times.

The man then committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor down into the enclosed courtyard.

There was apparently a restraining order in place after the woman had complained of abuse and the case is being treated as one of domestic violence, the first in Extremadura this year.
