Proposed strike averted in Jaén

A proposed indefinite strike by employees of FCC, the company responsible for street cleaning in Jaén, has been averted after the company paid the outstanding wages for November and the December bonus wages. The strike had been scheduled to start on December 23rd.

FCC has been responsible for the cleaning services in Jaén since 1985. However, it is reported that this payment of outstanding wages has only been made possible through an agreement signed by FCC with the Caja Rural and that the underlying problem still remains.

It is also reported that the Council owes FCC in the region of €60 million.
