Police in Almeria have arrested two people involved in causing 27 traffic accidents, burning 52 containers and 9 vehicles for ‘pure entertainment’.
The detainees, 27 year old Juan María P.P. and 26 year old Iván G.P., placed large stones or milestones on the road in order to cause accidents. In addition, they would often cover the stones in black plastic to prevent motorists from seeing them until too late.
They carried out these acts mainly on the A-7 between Vera and Lorca and on the A-92N highway between Vélez Rubio and Chirivel.
The first reported accident as a result of their efforts was back in October and involved an ambulance taking a heart attack victim to hospital. The last accident occurred on January 21st 2011.
The investigation led to the discovery that the two men were also involved in setting fire to 52 containers and 9 cars in Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia), Huércal Overa and Arboleas, again in the name of ‘entertainment’.
