The Junta de Andalucia has issued a report on the possibility of Torre del Mar being able to adopt, display and use its former 1845 municipal shield for various official purposes, and the news is not good.
Local entities, such as municipalities, may only use a municipal shield registered in the Local Entities Register of Andalucia, and the shield of Torre del Mar does not comply as the town is part of the municipality (entity) of Vélez-Málaga.
The Torre del Mar shield may not, therefore, be used in any official documents.
The report states that the only possibility to use the Torre del Mar shield would be if elements of it were to be officially incorporated into the municipal shield of Vélez-Málaga.
