A seven year old boy died on Saturday evening on the outskirts of Valencia after being hit by a local train.
The incident occurred at 18:37 between the exit of the Cabanyal tunnel and Fuente San Luis.
The boy, of Rumanian origin, lived in a nearby settlement. The driver of the Castellón-Valencia train was unable to brake in time and hit the boy. Medics, who had difficulty reaching the boy due to the terrain, could do nothing except certify his death.
The train remained stationary for 83 minutes until permission was given to remove the body.
