The outlying areas of Jerez could be without a bus service as from Thursday if the Council fails to pay overdue debts to the operating company Linesur.
Last month, a payment plan was agreed whereby the Council would pay the sum of €400,000 to Linesur in March. This payment has apparently not been made and Linesur say that although they have managed to pay the wages of their staff, there is no money for diesel fuel.
Workers will be meeting this afternoon, Wednesday, to discuss the situation and decide upon a course of action. At the moment, it looks like there will be no local bus service as from Thursday if the debt is not paid.
